Market Harborough Colts 37 - St Neots Colts 12
The first twenty minutes of the game saw each side testing one another but good defensive tackling kept the teams
level. The St Neots forwards played exceptionally well in the first half driving the ball forward from ruck to ruck,
recycling the ball giving the likes of Ryan Burke, Karl Sinclair and Louis Thornton the chance to get the ball forward
and gaining ground. With good communication the team played as they have practiced over the Summer and
culminated with Ryan Burke crossing the line to score just before half time. This leveled the score
after Market Harborough had earlier moved the ball wide to their wing to score the first try of the game.
Very quickly into the second half the opposition scored twice having taken advantage of the wind that was
blowing in their favour. The St Neots Colts fought hard with the backs moving the ball wide and trying some moves
but to no avail as strong tackling from the opposition stifled the attacks. Once they had the ball Market Harborough
always had players in support and slick off loading saw them run in another 3 tries. Rory Dingeman's quick thinking
from a penalty saw him slip through the defence to score under the posts. The try was duly converted.
One final try from the opposition right at the end of the game took the score line to 37-12.
The Colts team were strong, well drilled and full of energy in the first half but just did not keep the same tight
formation and play with the same momentum in the second half which allowed the opposition to score 6 tries.
Despite the scoreline the potential is there to do very well this season. Robbie Leigh had a particularly good game
in the second row, as did scrum half and captain Rory Dingemans.
