The cardinals rocked up at Kempston full of hope, the team had a number of experienced heads, match that with young energetic players we were looking good. In the first half the heavens opened and the conditions went from bad to worse, Jordan Rook rose to the challenge got the ball from slick move from the forwards. Ran forward 20m and earned a penalty. From that incident he got the ball again and ran forward getting pulled down illegally, from the resulting penalty the forwards manage to bundle Phil Fernie over for a try. Matt King converted to lead 0-7. Unfortunately Jordan got injured and left for hospital. Peter Arnold came on to replace him. The Cardinal dominated the first half with Rory Diggerman running the length of the pitch only to be pulled down meters from the try line. We just couldn't score. Half time 0-7 up.
The second half started and the play changed. The Cardinals were being challenged, our defence was letting them run at them. Kempston took comfort at that and they ran the ball over the try line 3 times with them converting 1.
A disappointing end to a fine game.
Highlights of the game, Piers Diggerman (50 tomorrow) playing along side his 2 sons Barnaby & Rory. Plus Nick Ashfords sideline strip after being substituted
